"When faced with a radical crisis, when the old way of being in the world, of interacting with each other and with the realm of nature doesn't work anymore, when survival is threatened by seemingly insurmountable problems, an individual human - or a species - will either die or become extinct or rise above their limitation with an evolutionary leap. This is the state of humanity now, and this is its challenge." - Eckhart Tolle
Trawsnewid Bangor Transition is a group of local people inspired to respond to the twin challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change. Our aim is to help build and integrate our local communities along more sustainable lines and values. It is our vision that by doing this we may together move forward into a richer and more fulfilling future that we have ever yet experienced. We intend to aid our community to prepare for the inevitable decline in the availability of oil and its products, to reduce our carbon emissions and to become a resilient and sustainable system of living relationship in community. To work towards these ends we will look at areas that will be affected by the decline in oil supply – food production, transport, education, housing, domestic energy, sustainable behaviour change, livelihoods and how we might together achieve a deeper sense of fulfilment. This process involves awareness raising, linking up with existing community groups, local businesses and local government. We also expect to launch practical projects in and around Bangor and to run training events. Eventually we will work on an Energy Descent Action Plan for a phased reduction in the use of oil and other resources. As of June 17th 2009 Trawsnewid Bangor Transition is now officially part of the worldwide network of transition initiatives. Ein nod yw i helpu i adeiladu ac integreiddio ein cymunedau lleol ar hyd llwybrau cynhaladwy. Rydym ni yn bwriadu i baratoi ar gyfer y lleihad anochel yn y swm o olew ai nwyddau sydd ar gael, ac i ostwng ein gollyngiadau carbon. Drwy wneud hyn, gobeithiwn i leihau ffaith newid hinsawdd ag i greu cymuned fwy ystwyth. Er mwyn gweithio tuag at y nodau yma byddem yn edrych ar yr agweddau fydd yn cael eu effeithio gan y gostyngiad mewn cyflenwad olew – cynhyrchiad bwyd, trafnidiaeth, addysg, tai, ynni domestig a bywoliaethau. Mae’r proses yma yn cynnwys codi ymwybyddiaeth, a chreu cysylltiadau grwpiau cymuned presennol, busnesau lleol a’r lywodraeth lleol. Rydym ni hefyd yn mynd i ddechrau prosiectau ymarferol ym Mangor a’r cyffiniau, a rhedeg gweithgareddau hyfforddiant. Yn y pen draw, byddem yn gweithio ar gynllyn Ddisgyniad Ynni ar gyfer lleihau ein defnydd o olew a deunyddiau eraill. O'r 17fed o fis Mehefin ymlaen, mae Trawsnewid Bangor Transition yn rhan swyddogol o'r rhwydwaith byd eang o fentrau trawsnewid.
